In these days, when school and society are constantly changing, continuous professional development and lifelong learning of teachers is considered a necessity. Teachers’ self- reflection and reflective practice areconsidered essential constructs without which the professional development of teachers is not possible. In recent years, reflective practice has been recognized as one of the main paradigms of teachers’ professional development. By reflecting on his work, through teacher self-reflection, a teacher can better understand the challenges he faces in his practice, improve the quality of teaching, communicate with colleagues about aspecific topic (problem), and use time more effectively for his professional development. Reflection can also, on the one hand, change the way the teacher understands and interprets his practice, and on the other hand, influence the change of the practice itself. In the paper, we will present the concept and importance of teacher self-reflection, the necessity of continuous professional development and lifelong learning of teachers of the Hungarian national minority.
